Nancy Diana McDonald (Powers), 70, of South Lyon, MI, passed away on November 15, 2024, surrounded by loving family.
Nancy was born May 4, 1954 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Ward and Meri Powers. Nancy graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1972, then went on to The University of Miami-Florida, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Nancy married Bill on May 5, 1978 at Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn, MI. They were married 46 incredible years, raising 4 children and loving life with 12 grandchildren. Remaining to cherish Nancy's memory are husband, Bill; children, Bill (Veronica), Brian (Marie), Kelly (Matt), and Kevin (Hilary); grandchildren, Collin, Warren, Claire, Mason, Annabelle, Lucy, Ethan, Henrik, Edward, Henry, Clara, and Lilly. She lived life every day loving her family and devoting herself to their happiness. Whether it was attending a sporting event, music concert, or a birthday party, she loved being a grandma and had the most special bond with all of her family.
Nancy worked as a preschool teacher in the Dearborn Public Schools for more than 20 years. She loved what she did and touched the lives of so many families and colleagues. Her happiness radiated in her classroom and all that she did.
A memorial mass will be held January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish in South Lyon, MI. A luncheon will follow.
Memorial donations in Nancy's memory may be directed to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, a charity dear to Nancy's heart, especially for her granddaughter, Lucy Diana.
