Died: March 26, 2026
Nancy J. Mulford, age 89, of Yorkville, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
She was born in Janesville, WI on February 23, 1937, the secondborn child of Victor O. and Beulah (Ohrmundt) Cox. She married Edward H. Hadley on September 22, 1956 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI. They had two children, Candice A. Hadley and Todd E. Hadley. They divorced in 1970. She then married Robert E. Mulford on June 29, 1974, and they spent the next nearly 50 years together until his passing on May 6, 2024.
Previously, she graduated from Janesville High School in 1955, and was a secretary at the former Parker Gen. Co. Later in Moline, IL, Nancy was a legal secretary to Sidney S. Deutch and later executive secretary at International Harvester Co, Blue Island, IL.
She enjoyed dancing, gardening, her home, house cats, bird feeding, traveling, reading and playing cards. She and her husband, Robert were members of the Naperville Square Dance Club and members of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Aurora, IL.
Nancy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Heidi Hadley; her two grandchildren, Sam Hadley and Haleigh Hadley; her sister, Lorna Schiefelbein; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Beulah Cox; her husband, Robert E. Mulford; her children, Todd Hadley and Candice Hadley; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Deanna Cox.
Services will be private.
