Nancy Louise (Brandman) Nolting passed away at home in Greenfield, IN, on Monday, August 4, 2025, age 97. A lover of animals, active in her church, and deeply devoted to family, Nancy was the eldest daughter—and one of ten children—of Max Brandman, Sr. and Esther (Talkington) Brandman of Odessa, Ukraine and Vincennes, IN, respectively. She had one daughter, Ellen Marie (Zane) Harley, and two grandsons, Gabriel (Corinne Renguette) Harley and Aaron (Melissa Schott) Harley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dore Eugene Nolting, her parents, her brothers Thomas, Max (Jr.), David, and Jacob and her sisters Martha Addis and Carolyn Gross. She is survived by her brother Timothy, sisters Evelyn and Leah, and her daughter, grandsons, and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
Nancy was happiest in two situations: staring out at the Great Smoky Mountains and sitting on the sofa beneath a wriggling pile of Yorkshire terriers. She lived for bingo, casino games, and hot fudge sundaes from Frosty Boy. She was a champion at penny poker (she preferred five-card stud) and Cards Against Humanity. Nancy was a 1945 graduate of Moral Township and went on to work for a number of different businesses and churches as a secretary and office manager.
A memorial will be held Friday, August 15 (calling 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M, funeral services at 1:00 P.M.) at Community Christian Church, 3123 South 500 West, New Palestine. A dinner for family and friends will follow.
