Nancy F. Paterniti, 85, passed away early Thursday morning, April 3, 2025, at Brooks Memorial Hospital. Formerly of Jamestown, Nancy resided in Dunkirk in the years following her husband's death.
She was born Sept. 14, 1939 in Dunkirk, a daughter of the late Stanley and Florence Kuwik, and was a graduate of Dunkirk High School.
Nancy was a member of St. John Catholic Church during her family's years in Jamestown. She enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, and loved her cats. She cherished her grandchildren and was always proud of their accomplishments.
Surviving is a son, Joseph P. (Kim) Paterniti of Jamestown; three grandchildren: MariJo (Andrew) Oster of Parkville, MD, Joseph E. Paterniti of Medford, MA, and Christopher Paterniti of Naples, FL; two sisters: Patricia Edwards of Dunkirk, with whom she made her home, and Bernadette Jenkins of Naples, FL; a brother-in-law, Maurice Paterniti of Jamestown; five nieces and nephews: Julie (Alan) Lauver, Steven Dyer (Sara), Holly (James) Gatto, Richard (Michelle) Paterniti, and Christian Paterniti (Lori Everson); as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Paterniti, whom she married in 1959 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Dunkirk and who died in 1989; a son, Dennis Paterniti in 1998; and a niece, Amy Paterniti in 2024.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home.
