Nancy Perry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory - Wendell on Jan. 9, 2026.
Nancy Alford Perry, 87, of Wendell, NC, peacefully departed on January 7, 2026, at her residence.
Nancy was born in Zebulon, NC, on June 16, 1938, a daughter of the late Wallace Harold Alford and Dorothy Baker Alford. After graduating from Wakelon High School in Zebulon, she attended the Women's College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She enjoyed traveling through Europe, working as a librarian at a community college in Georgia, and later a bookkeeper for the Elks Lodge in Oklahoma before retiring to take care of her home and family. Her favorite time was always spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nancy was an active member of the Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church where she enjoyed time with her church family. She also enjoyed time spent with her friends at the Historical Society of Zebulon. Her monthly breakfast get-togethers with her Wakelon High School class were always a highlight.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Ronald Proctor Perry, and a sister, Barbara Jones (Winston).
She is survived by her son, Ron P. Perry, Jr. (Carol), of Wendell, NC; a daughter, Susan Holland (Greg), of Clayton, NC; a brother, Jim Alford (Vickie); three grandchildren, Jenny Bell (Nate), Nick Perry (Sarah), and Dalton Perkins; and four great grandchildren, Olivia Bell, Sophie Bell, Clay Perry, and Riley Perry.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to special caregivers Mary, Hope, Britney, Velma, Jesse, Lena, Joyce, JoAnne, Ade, and Denise.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Bunn Alford Upchurch Family Cemetery, Old US 64, with Pastor Earl Roach officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Wake County, 1001 Blair Drive, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27603 or Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Rd, Zebulon, NC 27597 (for the Land Fund).
Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. www.stricklandfuneral.com
