Nancy Jean Sorensen Petroff

Nancy Jean Sorensen Petroff, 76, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Brevillier Village Ball Pavilion. She was born in Erie on June 9, 1949 a daughter of the late Eyner and Vera Greener Sorensen.

Nancy graduated with honors from East High School in 1967 and Gannon College School of Radiology, with honors. She worked at Hamot Hospital, Radiology Associates, Millcreek Family Practice, and retired from the Regional Cancer Center as head of the x-ray department.

Nancy enjoyed quilting, reading, going to the horse races with her cousin/best friend Janet Smerker and traveling. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and wintering in Florida. You could find her at the pool with her friends everyday. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. You could hear her yell "woohoo!" after every touchdown.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale (Monica), John, and Marty Sorensen.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Paul Petroff; her son, Tom Petroff (Kelly); her daughter, Jennifer Galla (Bill); three grandchildren, Liam and Derek Galla and Joey Petroff; her sister Marlene Korn (Richard); sisters-in-law Linda Sorensen and Helen Sorensen; George and Kathy Petroff; and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to send a special thank you to Dr Ryan Maciak at UPMC Hamot, and the amazing staff at both Brevillier and Interim Hospice.
