Nancy Pierson Jones Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 23 to Apr. 1, 2024.
Born in Portland, Oregon to Bertram Frederick Pierson and Ellen Marie (Oberg) Pierson, Nancy attended Grant High School prior to pursuing a nursing degree through the University of Oregon. Nan returned to school to become an educator and received her bachelor's degree at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, Oregon and her master's degree at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. She spent over twenty years teaching, almost entirely at Garfield Elementary in Spokane, Washington. Her teaching career rewarded her with great satisfaction, and offered an arena that highlighted her creative spirit and vivid imagination. Nan and her former husband Kenric Kemps Jones, MD had four lovely children together; daughters Bryn Nakamura (Chester) and Sarah Farley (Rendall), sons David and Derek Jones. Her family rejoices in the gift of her life; along with her children, those carrying Nan's legacy are her sister Janet Behrmann (Otto), nine grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Nan had a deep appreciation for art, nature, and conservation which she imparted to everyone around her. Nan leaves behind many dearly loved neighbors, colleagues, students, and cherished friends. In her honor, we invite you to plant a tree or donate to your local Public Broadcasting Station (PBS.org). Per Nan's request, her 'return' will be privately celebrated with close family members.
