Nancy Sholty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jun. 19, 2025.
Nancy Lee Sholty, a beloved resident of Wacousta, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on May 8, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Marvin and Helen (Bell) Moore.
Nancy graduated from Eastern High School and initially embarked on a career as a bank teller. However, her true passion was found in education, where she dedicated over thirty years as a teaching assistant and playground monitor at Wacousta Elementary. She profoundly impacted the lives of countless children, nurturing their growth and learning with warmth and kindness.
In her personal life, Nancy was a vibrant and active individual. She enjoyed playing softball, participated in a golf league, and loved taking long walks in nature. An avid animal lover, Nancy had a special bond with her family's Saint Bernard, Tiny. She took great pride in her home, tending to her lawn with care and an eye for beauty, often utilizing her John Deere tractor.
Her creative spirit shone through in her various hobbies. Nancy was skilled in cross-stitching, creating beautiful Christmas stockings for her grandchildren, knitting pot holders and dishcloths to share with family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Gwen (Dan) Vincent, her son, Scott (Pam Frech) Sholty, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max "Skip" in 1995 and sisters, Betty Miller and Sally Childs; step-father, Roger Bell.
Nancy held dear memories of her companion, Ron Drake, with whom she enjoyed many joyful moments, including winters spent in Florida.
A funeral service will be held in her honor on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:15 AM, at Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the service, Nancy will be laid to rest at her final resting place at the Wacousta Cemetery.
In this time of grief, we celebrate the life of Nancy Lee Sholty-a woman of kindness, strength, and endless love. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, Capital Area Regional Office, 2111 University Park Drive, Suite 200, Okemos, Michigan 48864 (https://www.alz.org/?form=FUNDHYMMBXU) or All Americans Home & Health Hospice Care, 1397 S.
