Nancy Shy Obituary


NANCY ANN SHY, 74, of Huntington, WV, entered her Heavenly home on Thursday, May 8, 2025. She was born June 21, 1950.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Steve Shy; son-in-law, Larry McCloud; parents, Richard and Ida Carroll; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Dale Finley; mother- and father-in-law, Joe and Willa Shy.
Nancy is survived by her children: Stephen and Cindy Shy, Stacey and Jody Shy, and Stephanie McCloud. Her beloved grandchildren include Stephen, Paige, Cody Shy; Sammy, Michael, Landon Shy; Austin and Allison McCloud; Karli and Connor Morrison; and Branson McCloud. She was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Rylan Shy-Anne McCloud.
She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Jim Hale; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Joe and Sarah Shy, Grant and Tracy Shy, and Vickie and David Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Nancy was lovingly known as "Mamaw Nancy" to all who knew her. She loved sports, holidays, and spending time with her family. The community always looked forward to the holiday seasons to see how she decorated her yard. Her grandchildren were her world, and she could always be found cheering them on from the bleachers.
She was a member of the 5th Street Church of Christ. Visitation will be held at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, on Sunday, May 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 5th Street Church of Christ at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Kenova.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Mary's CV ICU and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for the extraordinary care given to Nancy. Condolences may be made at www.regerfh.com.
