Mrs. Nancy Adams Tiede, age 78, of Suwanee, formerly of Newton County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Born on October 2, 1947, in
Palo Alto, California, Nancy was the cherished daughter of Charles Newton Adams, Jr and Marie O'Connor Adams, both of whom preceded her in death.
Nancy spent her formative years in Sandy Springs, Georgia, where she graduated from Sandy Springs High School. A dedicated lifelong learner, she continued her education at the University of Florida and San Jose State University, ultimately earning her master's degree in education from Georgia College.
Mrs. Tiede devoted her career to teaching and nurturing generations of students in Newton County. She taught at East Newton Elementary School, Cousins Middle School, Newton High School, and Eastside High School, leaving a lasting impression on all who passed through her classroom. Her passion for education also extended to higher learning; she taught at Georgia State University, Newton Campus, sharing her wisdom and experience with college students.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Nancy was known as a wonderful caregiver and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Edward Tiede, Jr., whose memory she cherished deeply.
Nancy's legacy lives on through her devoted family: her sons, Michael E. Tiede (Elena) and Christopher R. Tiede (Jeannie); her granddaughters, Stephanie, Kristen, Lauren, and Victoria; her brothers, Charles N. Adams, III (Jacqueline) and Mark G. Adams (Elizabeth); and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many close friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those she loved and taught.
Mrs. Tiede's life was a testament to the power of compassion and education. She touched countless lives and created a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, colleagues, and students.
A memorial service for Mrs. Tiede will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning of Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home in
Covington, GA. Inurnment will follow at the Adams Cemetery for family and close friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Winship Cancer Institute.
