Nancy Charlene Fox Tipton, age 78, of Pine Swamp Road in Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Leona Hylemon Fox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Douglas Tipton, who passed away in 2015.
Nancy, called Charlene by her family, was a lifelong member of West Burnsville Baptist Church. She loved to design silk floral arrangements and was lovingly called "Nanny" by her grandchildren, who she adored. She was well known and will always be remembered for her homemade cooking and her wonderful jams and jellies.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Paul Duane Tipton and wife, Cindy, of Burnsville; grandchildren: Allison Tipton Woody and husband, Dalton, of Beaumont, TX and Nicolas Tipton of Burnsville; great-grandson, Lincoln Woody; brothers: Raymond Fox and wife, Nancy, of Burnsville, Grover Fox and wife, Janet, of Asheville, and Roger Fox and wife, Debbie, of Cane River. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5th in the McCurry Cemetery. Rev. Ricky Ray and Dr. Chris Morgan will officiate. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home of her son and daughter-in-law located at 216 Dale Street in Burnsville.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Lydia and all the staff at MediHome Hospice (Now called Medical Services of America, Inc.) for the wonderful care given to her and the family.
