Mrs. Nancy Long Waggoner, daughter of the late Kenneth C. Long and Dorothy Violet Law was born on January 13TH, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio. She passed away peacefully on February 1ST, 2023 at Baptist East Hospital. She was very happily married to Ellis Clay Waggoner for almost 50 years when he passed away in April of 2007. She was a loving and compassionate woman who was appreciated by many.
Nancy attended Fairmont High School in Dayton, Ohio as well as the University of Dayton and Ohio State University. Nancy always followed Ohio sports and watched the Cincinnati Reds and OSU on cable when they were available, as well as University of Louisville Cardinal sports. Nancy enjoyed travel and especially cruising. Together with Ellis they were accomplished mariners with over 150 days at sea on board Holland America Lines. Nancy had tremendous skill at art and accomplished many great oil-on-canvas equestrian paintings of her favorite American Saddlebred horses She had an active interest in art, photography, wild birds, and cruise travel however Nancy's greatest love was American Saddlebred Horses, which she shared with her late husband and horse trainer. Nancy showed horses for many years around the mid-west and at the Kentucky State Fair for the Worlds Championship Horse Show. Nancy enjoyed her life in the barn at Man-O-War Farm in Lexington, KY, Brownview Farm in Murfreesboro, TN, Hartmeyer Stables in Muncie, IN and Meadowlake Stables in Prospect, KY.
She is survived by her son, Eric L. Waggoner of Louisville, KY.
Visitation will be at Pearson's Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207 on February 19TH, between 1:00 and 4:00 PM. Internment will be at Cave Hill Cemetery with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Saddlehorse Museum in Lexington, Kentucky or the American Cancer Society.
