Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, confidant and an ear to listen and wisdom to share all partially describe the life and interests of Nancy White, our beloved mother.
Nancy White accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior long ago. Jesus sustained her through the good and not so good. Psalm 54;4 was an encouragement to her and all Jesus children. It reads Behold, God is my helper, The Lord is the one who sustains my soul.
While we mourn the loss of the presence, spirit and love of Nancy White, Christians know the Lord has merely changed the physical address of Nancy's soul, which lives on and is sustained by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Nancy White's interests were her family and friends. The last trip to Florida that I can remember was cut short so she could return to Indiana to be near friends and family.
Nancy White was married 67 years to Gene White who passed in 2017. The two were practically inseparable. If you saw one, the other was most likely nearby. Their marriage brought two sons into the world. Ron White (Beverly White) and Tom White.
Nancy was born in Indianapolis to Maxine Evans (McCaffey) She never knew her father who chose not to be a part of this incredible woman's life.
Nancy had 9 brothers and sisters. Her close sister Barbara Denzio is the sole survivor from this close-knit family. Brothers Jim Mills, Freeman Mills, Don Mills (Joanne), Max(Kathy) Mills and Bill Evans (Brenda) as well as sisters Shirley Christman, Virginia Driver (Rudy), and John Evans have all previously passed.
The family created many great memories as they grew up together under the watchful eye of their loving mother Maxine. Kind of like the 10 musketeers, all for one and one for all. This close-knit love lasted throughout their adult lives.
Nancy White was the kind of person that people would describe as kind and loving to all she met. Always interested in being active in life.
The last 5 years of her life were a challenge as that active lifestyle was diminished with the effects of age.
She had a long stretch in nursing homes. But true to her chosen character she made a difference in her new circumstance as she listened and encouraged the many she came in contact with during this difficult chapter of her life.
I recently learned she participated in the beach ball toss activity time at Bickford where she also attended church worship services.
Nancy White, Mom, sister, friend, confidant has been brought home to be with the Lord. She is already missed. And what we cherish most about this incredible woman, what we love about her, is that she followed Jesus Christ. Doing that drew her near to Him. Doing that taught her the greatest thing any of us can do is Love one another.
Nancy White learned this kind of love from Jesus Christ. He spoke it in Matthew 22:36-40 36
"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" 37
And Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38
This is the great and first commandment. 39
And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40
This is why it was so easy to love Nancy White because she loved those she was around, and those she knew.
Whether a follower of Jesus Christ or not everyone loved Nancy White because she had the characteristics of Jesus Christ. He offers His love to anyone who will accept Him as Christ of their life. Yes, we already miss the presence of Nancy White, but we take comfort in the promise of Jesus that we will all be reunited one day in a great homecoming. Where no more sickness, infirmity, sadness, sin, war, or death exists.
Until then we have the loving memories made during the incredible life of Nancy White.

Funeral Service for Nancy White will be 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Shan Rutherford officiating on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Norman F. Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 National Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227, with calling from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Private entombment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana. Final care and arrangements by Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center.
