Mr. Robert Harry White, age 94 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Friday, September 5, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Mr. White will be conducted on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 2PM in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. John Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.
Mr. Robert was born June 12, 1931, in Dyersburg, TN; the son of the late Harry Coy White & Mildred Lucille Tickle. He was a retired teacher and basketball coach for Gibson County Special School District with 32 years of service. Also, Mr. Robert retired from the National Guard with 42 ½ years of service, served as Alderman & Mayor for the Town of Rutherford, was a member of Woodman of the World Lodge 153, and was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Robert attended the New Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy White; children, David White (Lisa), Terry White (Cherri), Barry White (Amy); grandchildren, Candice Spellings, Justin White, Jessica (Nick) Albea, Aleece (Jonathan) Baker, Tyler White, Corey White, Chase White, Matthew Bailey, Hunter (Chloe) White; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Cathy (Hugh) Wright. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Leila Penn White (2001); sister, Frances Ann Crain; and brother, Eddie White.
Pallbearers will be Justin White, Tyler White, Chase White, Corey White, Hunter White, Matthew Bailey, Remington Green, and Nick Albea. Honorary pallbearers are Aden Lee, Karter Spellings, Silas White, Nichols Albea, and Myles Albea.
Visitation with family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home, from 5PM-8PM. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Robert Harry White.
