Nancy Anne Yokom, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully at her home on February 16, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on January 9, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late George and Mary Jane Hoppenrath. Nancy's life was a testament to the power of caring and intelligence, qualities that she embodied every day.
Nancy's journey began in Detroit where she was born, but her heart found its home in Cottrellville Township, where she married the love of her life, Daniel G. Yokom, on December 27, 1975. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family. Nancy's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, raising her children, Jennifer Yokom of Georgia, Jason Yokom of Arizona, and Justin (Angela) Yokom of St. Clair, with gentle strength and unwavering support.
Her love extended to her grandchildren, Taylor, Amber, Alyssa, Chase, Mikayla, and Chris, and her three great-grandchildren, who will carry the warmth of her love and the wisdom of her guidance with them always. Nancy's family circle included her devoted sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica (Bob) Wawrzyniak of Florida, Kathy (JR) Wawrzyniak of Marine City, Douglas Yokom of Florida, Jim (Kim White) Yokom of Algonac, Larry (Robin) Yokom of Marine City, Gay (Pat) Mann of Burtchville Twp., and Roxanne Yokom of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Carol and Joan.
Nancy's life was full of creativity and service. She had a passion for painting and crafts. Nancy was a den leader for the Cub Scouts, guiding young minds and instilling in them the values of community and responsibility.
Traveling and camping were activities that her and Daniel did together. Above all, Nancy was a great mother and grandmother. Her legacy of love will continue to flourish in the lives of those she touched. Nancy was a wonderful, caring, and giving person, whose presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who knew her. We take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and kindness will endure, a guiding light for generations to come.
We will gather to celebrate Nancy's life knowing she is finally at peace on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial-Bower Rose Funeral Home, 222 N. Main Street,
