Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mystic Funeral Home on Jul. 30, 2025.
The world lost an incredible woman on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Natalie D. Leventhal of Mystic, CT passed away at age 101 with her family by her side. Natalie was born on August 22, 1923 in the Bronx, New York to the late Celia (Shapero) Davidson and Michael Davidson. The family moved to Hartford, Connecticut in 1925 and Hartford became home to Natalie. She made lifelong friends in Hartford, graduating from Weaver High School in 1940 and from UCONN in 1944. It was at UCONN that she met her future husband, Robert J. Leventhal who was there training to go overseas for WWII. He returned from Europe in December of 1945 and they were married January 27, 1946. Robert predeceased Natalie in 1995. Natalie worked as a statistician for The State of Connecticut for several years. In 1957 Bob and Nat became teachers and first taught in Middletown Connecticut. By 1960 they applied to teach in several shoreline communities and were hired to teach in the Groton Public Schools where they stayed until retirement. They traveled extensively both in the US and abroad. Natalie will be remembered as a loving mother to daughters, Michele Holdridge and Amy Hunsinger (William)as well as her son, Seth Leventhal. Also surviving are grandchildren; Monique, Alden(Jennifer), Amanda, and Rebecca Holdridge, Susan Hainline, and Laura Irace(Michael); great-grandchildren include Ray(Jenny), Chelsea (Kyle), Katelynn, Haley, Wyatt, Preston, Tabitha, Damian, and John and her great-great-grandchildren Ray, Jaxon, Gracie, and Willow also survive. Natalie was predeceased by two sons-in-law, John Hainline and Joseph Holdridge and a granddaughter, Christina Hainline. We were fortunate to have celebrated Natalie's 100th birthday with friends and family in August 2023. Our sincere thanks go to Masonicare Hospice, Linda and Mario Tristany, A Daughter for Loan (Kathy Brown) and most importantly Seth, whose expertise and humor made Mom comfortable and happy to the end.
