Nathan A. Payan, 47, of Marquette, passed away Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023 at his home.
Nathan was born on May 7, 1976 in Marquette to Ardi Payan and Barbara (Romo) Schaut. A 1994 graduate of Marquette Senior High School, Nathan went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in human resources and business from Michigan State University. He later received two Master's Degrees in teaching from George Mason College of Washington, DC.
Teaching was the love of Nate's life and he was very good at it. Over the years, he taught in South Korea, Japan, Brazil and then another 14 years in South Korea, before returning to Marquette in 2021 to be closer to his dad.
Nathan attended Marquette Bible Church and was an avid scripture reader. In his free time, he enjoyed motorcycling, working out, jogging, and kick boxing.
Nate is survived by his father, Ardi Payan of Marquette and mother, Barbara Schaut of Iron Mountain; a sister, Sara Payan of San Francisco, CA; also several cousins and his two feline companions, Buddy and Benny.
A memorial service to celebrate Nathan's life will take place on Friday, May 26th at 2 p.m. at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Kyle Detmers of Marquette Bible Church officiating. Nate's family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon Friday until the time of the service. Nathan's memorial service will be livestreamed at https://my.gather.app/remember/nathan-a-payan
