Debra Louise Payan (Blaine) fought many battles in her life, with cancer being the hardest she ever faced. Despite the pain and difficulty, she carried herself with poise, hope, and courage until cancer ultimately claimed her life. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Debra took her final breath on this earth, surrounded by nothing but love, peace, and prayers from her close family and friends at Wesley Medical Center.
Debra was the sixth of ten children and was born the largest of all her siblings on March 8, 1955, to Thelma Margaret (Bernie) and Guy Thomas Blaine in Wichita, Kansas. She grew up with six brothers: Guy Jr., Marvin, Alton, Kenny, Robbie, and Joe Blaine; and three sisters, Kathy Salazar, Jeanne Mitchell, and Jackie Morales. As a young child, she loved spending time outside, playing with her siblings, and exploring treelines with a packed lunch in hand. When she wasn't playing, she could often be found sitting between her dad and Grandpa George, listening as they spoke their native language.
As Debra grew older, her adventurous spirit blossomed. She learned to ride a skateboard and even a motorcycle. She earned her green belt in karate, enjoyed working on cars, and had an incredible talent for cooking and baking. She had a deep love for spicy foods, dancing, beading, and sewing. Among her many sewing projects were lovingly crafted memory bears.
But of all her accomplishments, Debra was proudest of being a mother to her four children: Christopher Allen Shrubshall (Tony), Nikki Lynn Trusty (1974–2021) (Ron), Amber Dawn Molen (Brad), and Daniel Shrubshall. She was also a beloved grandmother to Konina, Desirae, Christine, and Kodah Trusty; Shyenne, Talon, and Wakinyan Shrubshall; Preston and Ashlin Molen; and Adryana Standlee. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Haven, Aiyanna, Santino, Raelynn, Aaliyah, Chayton, Emery, and Evie.
Debra is preceded in death by her daughter Nikki Trusty; her parents, Guy and Thelma Blaine; her grandfather, George Blaine; her brothers, Guy Jr., Marvin, Alton, and Joe Blaine; nieces Monica Blaine, Crystal Salazar, and Michelle Blaine; and nephews Garrett Blaine, Brandon Blaine, Jon Keibler, and Alejandro Morales.
Out of respect of her final wishes, no service will be held. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Debra Louise Payan (Blaine), please visit our floral store.
