Nathan Christopher Stevens

Nathan "Nate" Christopher Stevens was a son, a father, an uncle, a brother, and friends to many. He left this world suddenly on August 18th, 2021.
Nathan was a creator, a force of nature, charismatic, artistic, philosophical, musical, passionate, and a free spirit. A generous heart who found ways to navigate life by making deep connections with strangers and people he knew alike. He had the charisma of a politician with the philosophy of a shaman. He lived life by his own rules.
He was born to Christopher and Susan Stevens on October 26, 1976. He grew up on Saint Paul's West Side, with all six of his siblings. He participated in cub scouts, little league baseball, varsity soccer, basketball, chamber choir, and the Minnesota All-State choir. Nate was a hard worker at a young age, picking up jobs as a paperboy, grocery bagger at R.C. Dicks, and Prom Catering. He used his earnings to further develop his hobbies, such as stamp and coin collecting, purchasing an aquarium along with fish, and musical instruments.
His love of music drew him into the Minneapolis/Saint Paul music scene as a teen in his band "The Beads" with his close brother Matthew. This evolved to two decades of playing in multiple successful local bands, including Wookiefoot, Mad Love, The New Primitives, and notably, his family band, the Stevens Family Band. An adept guitarist, harmonica player, and amazing vocalist, with the highlight of his musical achievements was playing harmonica on stage with George Clinton. Nathan released several self-produced albums and always had music in his soul.
His last few years on this earth were a winding battle of drug addiction and mental health that he ultimately succumbed to. His caring and loving nature will be missed by all those he touched.
Survived by his son, Miles Becker, step-daughter Priya, and their mother Christy; parents, Christopher and Susan Stevens; siblings, Matthew (Solina), Samuel (Annelies), Luke (Namdol), Nicole (Zacarias), Anna, and Angela; his nieces and nephews Kimora, Natalie, Ezra, Annika, David, Mateo, Mihyanna, Mihlayia, Luccii and Kallii; many aunts, uncles, and cousins from both the Stevens and Reichenbach families.
A celebration of Nate's life will be held ?on September 5th at Cherokee Park on St Paul's West Side in open house style ?from 11 am to 8 pm, with a scheduled service ?at 1 pm. There will be food, drink, and memories to share throughout the entire day. We will have drum circles later in the evening, bring your drums if you plan to play.
