Nathaniel Sheridan Holland, Sr., age 87, departed this life on June 5, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. A man of deep faith and quiet strength, Nathaniel now rests in the eternal peace of his Lord.
Born on June 16, 1937, Nathaniel was a graduate of Elkhorn High School and later in life, Franklin University. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, Sergeant First Class, and later dedicated many years to Columbus Public Schools as a head custodian, where he was known for his diligence and integrity.
Nathaniel was a faithful member of New Covenant Believer's Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and community. His love for learning never waned; he had an insatiable curiosity and enjoyed exploring a wide range of topics. He also found joy in watching sports, often sharing those moments with loved ones.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Kwi Holland; children Mark Cardwell (Jana), Toni Crump, and Kinisha Holland; and a host of grandchildren: Brittany Holland, Ramses "Boogie" Holland, India Holland, Chauntelle Folds, James Crump, Brandon Crump, Toniqua Crump, Matthew Cardwell (Janille), and Cherish Koehler (Owen). Nathaniel's memory will also be cherished by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice Brown (Swanson) and Morris Ira Holland; siblings Lillian Magdaline Swanson, Gloria Dupree Swanson, and Melvin Theodore Swanson; and his beloved son Nathaniel Holland Jr., affectionately known as "Man."
A viewing will be held at New Covenant Believer's Church on June 13 at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Located at 3400 Kohr Blvd, Columbus, OH 43224.
Nathaniel's steadfast spirit and enduring faith leave an indelible mark on all who knew him. May his soul find rest in the arms of the Almighty.
