Frank Lamar Tucker, age 76, passed away on February 4, 2025. He was born on April 27, 1948, to Jimmie L. Tucker and Agnes Elaine (Chivers) Tucker-Colwell of LaGrange, GA.
Frank married Marcia (Watkins) on May 13th, 1971 and from their union of 39 years, two children were born. He retired from Tri-Alliant and later re-entered the workforce as a caregiver for Home Healthcare Services.
At a young age, Frank accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Columbus. After marrying Marcia, he moved his membership to Holy Temple Church of God, where he enjoyed singing in the Men's Choir. One of his favorite songs to perform was "Jesus is Love" by The Commodores.
Frank was known for his quiet nature, love of the great outdoors, and passion for fishing and hunting. He earned the nickname "Mr. Fix-It" and could often be found repairing cars, bikes, plumbing, and household items. A cherished family memory is the summer he replaced an entire roofing system from a Time-Life "How to Fix It" book-only for the family to later hire professionals to redo it. His storytelling during family gatherings and holidays will be deeply missed, as will his humorous reference to his "part-time job" (they lost a valuable client).
A proud member of the Columbus East High School Class of 1967, Frank was part of the Boys' Basketball 1966-67 State Runner-Up team, which was later inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007. He continued his education at Franklin University, earning a bachelor's degree while playing for the university's basketball team.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcia E. (Watkins); his parents, Jimmie and Agnes (Tucker)-Colwell; his sister, Patricia "Trish" Johnson; and his brothers, Leon E. and Herbert G. Tucker.
Frank is survived by his son, Deacon Alan (Angela); daughter, Terena (Ron); grandchildren, Mieliekk (Anthony), Milasha, DuShaun, Donovan, Desmond, Kendall, and Dillon; great-granddaughter, Mylah; brother, Deacon Ronald H. (Avise) Tucker; brother-in-love, Dave Jordan; sisters-in-love, Virgilene Sellers and Pam Tucker (all of Columbus, OH); nieces, Tosca Jordan, Tonya Jordan, Tiffany (Kendall) Nesbitt of Chicago, IL, Kiaonna Tucker of Pennsylvania, Crystal (Larry) Battle of New York, and Danielle Griffin; nephews, Rev. Wesley (Paula) Sellers, Sheyton (Niel) Tucker, Jeffrey Tucker of New York, Christopher-Anthony Tucker, and Mitchell Tucker of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by lifelong friends Melvin (Cynthia) Hutcherson, Olevia (Walter) Tucker-Matthews, Jim Clemons, Mrs. Granilch, and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends at 10 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 AM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Holy Temple Church of God, 1072 E. 14th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43211. Rev. Wesley L. Sellars will be officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Caliman Funeral Services, 3700 Refugee Rd., Columbus, OH 43232.
