Nathaniel Simms Obituary
At an early age, Dee joined Green Grove Baptist Church in Terrell County. While he visited the church only on certain occasions, he still considered himself to be a spiritual person.
Dee received his education in the public school system of Terrell County, Georgia. He attended Carver High School in Dawson.
A hardworking man, Dee spent his lifetime working on the farm. He was very well known for his skills in doing all things farming.
On November 8, 2022, Nathaniel transitioned (2 Timothy 4:7). He fought a good fight; he was a trooper. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Charlie Simms, Jr., and Calvin Simms.
Dee loved his family. He was a dad, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and a brother-in-law. We will truly miss "Our Dee." We will forever cherish the memories and laughter he brought into our hearts. He would say, "Family, don't cry for me. I'm Free. Take a look at each other and think of me and the laughter we shared. Remember me, Dee."
Dee was a friend to many. Remembering Dee will be easy for everybody who knew him. Whenever he was around, he always brought laughter to the hearts of everyone, and there was never a sad moment. He was no stranger to anyone. He was quite a comedian. He knew how to put a smile on your face during every occasion.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Flossie Simms; his children, Nathaniel Simms, Jr., Sharon Simms, Louise Simms, and Fredrick Simms; six grandchildren; his siblings, Freddie (Dorothy) Simms of Dawson, GA, Barbara Simms of Albany, GA, Milton (Mary) Simms of Dawson, GA, Melissa Sims and Timothy Simms of Dawson, GA, Fredrick (Marilyn) Simms of Jonesboro, GA, Annie Simms of Dawson, GA, Randy (Sharon) Simms of Dawson, GA, Eric Simms (Monica) of Dawson, GA, and Alfred Simms of Dawson, GA; an aunt, Doretha Cox of Albany, GA,; a lifelong friend, Mr. Willie Calloway; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
