Naymon Lee Walters, Sr., who dedicated 42 years of his life to the Santa Fe and BNSF Railroad Company, has peacefully passed away on July 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was a man who cherished his roles as a father and husband, known for loving deeply and wholeheartedly.
Born on October 5, 1944, Naymon's journey was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and his friends. He attended church at the Honey Island Assembly of God and found solace in his faith throughout life. His demeanor was warm and welcoming; he always loved sharing the gospel bringing family and friends closer to God. Naymon instilled in his children the values of goodness and decency, ensuring they grew up to be upstanding individuals.
Outside of work and family life, Naymon found joy in simple pleasures. He had a passion for horses, fishing, enjoyed exploring the beauty of Tennessee, and shared a special bond with his beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Gabby. One of his proudest accomplishments was crafting knives from deer horns, gifting them to numerous friends and family members as tokens of his skill and affection.
Naymon is reunited in eternity with his father Lem Walters, Jr., and mother Murvil Castleberry Walters. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be carried on by those closest to him. His wife of 59 years, Mary Lavern Walters, stood by his side through thick and thin. His memory will be cherished by his son, Naymon Walters, Jr. (and wife Delanie); daughters, Veronica Gannon (and husband Delton), Tammy Castilaw (and husband Kevin), and Jennifer Walters; brother, Charles Walters (and wife Bonnie), along with grandchildren, Delton Gannon III (and wife Amanda), Kyle Gannon (and wife Samantha), Colton Castilaw, Keaton Castilaw (and wife Carsyn), Cody Walters and great-grandchildren Clayton Gannon, Mason Gannon, Ella Gannon, Jensen Gannon, Charlee Gannon and Hardin Gannon.
The life of Naymon Lee Walters, Sr., serves as a testament to the profound impact one can have through love, dedication, and generosity. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Honoring Naymon as pallbearers are Delton Gannon III, Kyle Gannon, Colton Castilaw, Keaton Castilaw, Cody Walters, Clayton Gannon, and Mason Gannon. Honorary pallbearers are Delton Gannon, Jr., and Kevin Castilaw.
Services to honor and remember Naymon's life will take place at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 pm with Pastor Crawford officiating and speaker Johnny Ruggles. Burial will follow to Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred, Texas.
