Ned was born on May 30, 1992, to John Sauer and Meg Warner Sauer. He loved deeply and with his entire being. He was especially close to his grandmothers, Jean Warner Magrane and Joan Sauer who preceded him in death, along with his brother Jes and his father John.
Survivors include his mother, Meg Sauer, aunt Kathy Sellers and uncles Ted Sauer, and Tad and Jan Warner. He will be missed by his cousins, Shane, Shannon, Tommy, Melissa, Tammy, Sarah, Angela and Christopher.
Ned loved growing up on the St. Joseph River, boating and fishing, and family camping trips over Memorial Day where his birthday was celebrated each year.
Ned had a crazy sense of humor, and a marvelous intelligence. He graduated from Penn High School in 2011 where he played rugby. He loved all sports, especially basketball and football. He followed his favorite teams closely and could name every player along with all their statistics. And nothing made him happier than a Notre Dame football victory.
Ned was a voracious reader who devoured everything from Michele Obama's "Becoming" to Donald Trump's "Art of the Deal." He looked at life from all perspectives.
He enjoyed working as a CNC operator at Flexible Concepts, Inc in Elkhart. Prior to that he worked at Ed Patton Construction, Inc. in Lafayette, where a loyal support group helped him develop his sense of self-worth, service and sobriety.
Ned displayed an impeccable sense of style from a young age. He was the only child wearing a suit and tie in his kindergarten class picture. Later, Nike shoes, Notre Dame Jerseys and dress shirts added to his flair. "Average" was not part of his vocabulary in anything he purchased for himself or as generous gifts for his family or friends.
Ned had a handful of lifelong friends who meant the world to him. He hoped to plant a row of arborvitaes for his best friend, Tyler Binder, and had recently planted the first tree. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to complete the row to be planted along Tyler's property on Ash Road where we can all enjoy them.
A visitation for Ned will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, In Hahn Funeral Home. Service will begin at 2:00PM, in the funeral home.
Donations can be made to: Ty's Trees through Hahn Funeral Home by using the grey donation tab at the top of the obituary.
Please celebrate the fact that Ned's difficult days are over and may God bless everyone who loved him and helped him through those dark times. You made a difference.
We wish you peace, dear Neddy.
