Willie B. Woods

Willie B. Woods, age 74, of Marion, passed away on Saturday August 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Willie was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, to the late Hoover and Mamie (Stokes) Woods. His family moved to Osceola, Indiana, when he was a young child. Willie was a Christian and accepted Christ at a young age. He loved Jesus and reading the Bible, especially the four Gospels.
Willie graduated from Penn High School (South Bend), Goshen College (Goshen), and IUPUI School of Social Work (Indianapolis). After graduation, Willie worked for the Indiana School for the Deaf, Central State Hospital. He retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion, Indiana, after 23 years as a LCMSW.
Willie is survived by his wife, Lela; sons: William (Zuri) Williams and Derek (Sarah) Ressler, both of South Bend, and Adam Woods of Indianapolis; daughters: Camille (Pablo) Gomez of Mexico, Leandra Allen of McCordsville, and Ariana (Richards Scroggins) Woods of Indianapolis; sister, Ann Woods of Indianapolis; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Woods of Elkhart and Linda (Reginald) Gilliam of Baltimore, MA; brother-in-law, John Walsh of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren, Kenyon Williams, Braylon Williams, Jaden Williams, Elijah Ressler, Aaliyah Ressler, Autzen Gomez, Bella Gomez, Refugio Gomez, Skyla Woods, Noah Scroggins, Kyrie Scroggins, and Alani Scroggins; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Ricky Reed and Terry O'Donnell.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hoover Jr., Woodrow, Samuel, and Daniel Woods; step-brother, Robert Stokes; and sisters, Rachel Walsh, Patricia and Vesta Woods.
The Woods family would like to thank the staff of Marion Health, Lutheran Hospital, and Heartland Hospice for their support and loving care of Willie.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
