Nellie Ayres Obituary
Nellie Ayres, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Rising Sun, Maryland, at the age of 90. Born on May 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Ollis) Smith.
As a devoted Jehovah's Witness, Nellie's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both the joys and challenges she encountered. She was known for her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering spirit, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. In her leisure time, Nellie found joy in playing Bingo, a pastime that brought her laughter and camaraderie with friends and family alike.
Nellie is survived by her two sons, Larry Ayres of Rising Sun, MD and Thomas Ayres, Jr., of Baltimore, MD. She also leaves behind cherished memories shared with her granddaughters, Tiffany Bennett and Erica Ayres, along with her great-grandson, Isaac Holman. Nellie's family was her pride and joy, and she took immense joy in being a part of their lives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas C. Ayres, Sr., and two children, David Ayres and Theresa Ayres.
