She was preceded in death by parents, George and Jessie Boyd; sisters Katie Darrow, Edith Pardue Hargrove and Virginia Gibbs; brothers James, Jewel, Clarence, Marvin (Tony), Jimmy and Doug Boyd, husband Harris Jackson (Jack) Perry and daughter, Jackie Perry Barnum.
Nellie is survived by a sister, Lillie Belle Davidson; sister-in-law, Frances Boyd; sons, Gary (Mary) Perry and Bobby (Virginia Taylor) Head; daughter, Judy (Max) Vick; son-in-law, John Barnum, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Mandi), Zachary (Amanda) and Joseph (Margie) Barnum, Nicole Barnum Stewart, Christie Perry, Jennifer (Dana) Perry-Johnson, Nathan (Shannon) Vick, Deanna (Josh) McGhee, Kim (Jonathan) James and Leslie (Kyle) Hughes. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Alexis and Brooke Barnum; Rory and Recon Stewart; Chaz, Ethan and Kendall Painter; Conner and Bailey Vick; Elijah McGhee; Kyler and Riley Perry; Maggie James; Carter and Kaelyn Hughes; and one great-great grandson, Kolton Perry.
She retired from Acme Boot Company in Ashland City. Nellie loved "digging in the dirt" and had an amazing green thumb that could get anything to grow. She worked at Flowers Nursery during the planting season until she was 90 years old. She loved to dance and dress up for parties.
Nellies family would like to thank the Hillcrest Healthcare employees for their love and the compassionate care she received there during the past year.
Visitation with the family will be at Boyd Funeral Home, 101 Elizabeth Street in Ashland City, Tennessee on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 10 am until time of service at noon, officiated by Bro. Joe Bogle. Nellie was a long-time member of the Bearwallow Church of Christ and interment will be at the Bearwallow Community Cemetery.
