Nellie Bruggemann Obituary
Bruggemann, Nellie H., 86 of Sandwich, Illinois passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. Nellie was born January 7, 1939 in Centralia, Illinois. Daughter of John Casey and Mamie Williams.
She married Paul F. Bruggemann on June 16, 1954 in Centralia, Illinois, they were married until his passing in 2013. Nellie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Somonauk, Illinois. Nellie co-owned and operated Nel’s Catering with her husband Paul in Somonauk for over 30 years. There she loved to show her artistic talent in cake decorating and her culinary skills. She was well known for Nel's potato salad. Nellie was an avid reader and in her younger years enjoyed crocheting and sewing for her children.
Nellie is survived by 6 children, daughters Donna (Dean) Irelan of Cement City, Michigan, Teresa (deceased Don) Robbins of Newark, Connie Reeve of Somonauk, Mary (Jim) Lawrence of Wooster, Ohio and Susan (Robert) Way of Somonauk, and son Paul Bruggemann Jr. of Sandwich, 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, 1 grandchild and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, with a Funeral Mass that will follow immediately at St John's the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, with Father Joseph Naill.
