Nellie Ruth Townson Caster, 88 of Blountsville passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at TLC Nursing Home in Oneonta. She was born September 24, 1936, the daughter of Oliver Smith and Hattie Mae Oaks Smith. She was married to Odis T. Townson, who passed away October 12, 1957. On August 8, 1959, she married James Edwin Caster and was married 56 years at the time of his passing February 6, 2016. She is survived by her children: Kenneth Townson, Judy King, Cathy Self (Roger), Rick Townson (Lynn) and James E. Caster, Jr. (Linda); sisters: Dollie Sims, Pam Underwood and Jeannette Glass; brother: Gary Smith; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Odis Townson and James E. Caster; daughter: Tammy McGuire; son: Danny Townson; son-in-law: Danny King; siblings: Olivia Smith, Dimple Nelson, Eloise Gunter, Millicent Faulkner, Jerry Smith, Toney Smith and Pete Smith. Funeral Service was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Blountsville Funeral Home with Jason Bryson officiating and eulogy by Rick Townson. The burial was in Roswell Creek Cemetery, Blountsville Funeral Home directing. Visitation was 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Blountsville Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Dale Self, Anthony Self, Noah King, Daniel Dickson, Cole Dickson and Drew Dickson.
