Nellie Ruth Forsyth

Mrs. Nellie Gentry Forsyth passed away on December 12, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving mother to not only her own children, but to others as well.
Nellie was a hard worker and succeeded in everything she tried. She could just look at clothes and make them without a pattern. She also made the most beautiful quilts. She worked at Lindale Mfg. as a trainer for 20 years. She then worked in healthcare as a CNA until she retired at age 72.
Nellie was born August 25, 1934, daughter of the late Roy and Isabelle Gentry. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband and father of her children, Earnie Forsyth, and her 2nd husband, Marvin Ballance; her granddaughter, Vickie Diane Forsyth; her sisters, Christen Maxwell, Lucile Cole, Margie Pickle, and Lula Bell Moore; her brothers, Daniel Gentry, Felton Gentry, Richard Gentry, Clyde Gentry, and Dillard Gentry.
Survivors include her sons, Lamar Forsyth (Debbie), Leroy Forsyth (Pam), Eddie Forsyth, and Franklin Forsyth; her daughters, Diane Cox (Billy), Gail Dobbs (Dean), and Sherrie Miller; her 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren (with 2 on the way); her brother, Harold Gentry; her sisters, Ellen Bennett and Myrtle Cantrell; and her beloved best friend, her dog, Pretzel.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 2:00pm at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Denver Forsyth, Wayne Cox, Frank Forsyth, Eugene Forsyth, Kaiden Swann, and Devon Dobbs.
