Nelson Burgess Obituary

Micco, Fla. - Nelson B. Burgess Jr., 90, passed away Aug. 13, 2025 in his home in Micco, Fla., formerly of Ledyard. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores C. Burgess. They shared 60 years of marriage. He was born in New London, and was the son of Grace Brown and Nelson Burgess Sr.

His quiet wisdom, warmth and steady presence left a profound impact on everyone who knew him. Nelson proudly served his country in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division, where he demonstrated the same dedication and strength of character that would define his entire life. His military service was a testament to his commitment to serving both God and country with honor and distinction.

Following his military service, Nelson had a lifelong passion for carpentry. His craftsmanship was a reflection of the care and attention he brought to everything in his life.

He was deeply loved and will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the family he cherished above all else. He is survived by his children: Debbie (Dave) D'Eugenio, Carrie (Russ) Shaw, Lisa Burgess (Ken) Remondi, and Amy Burgess (Don) Brown, and his cat, Prissy, that he adored. He is also predeceased by his son, James Michael.

A private Celebration of his Life will be held at his home.
