It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Nelson Joseph Dupre, 93, who went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 4, 2025, in his hometown of Houma, Louisiana. Born on February 4, 1932, Nelson was a faithful and devoted father, grandfather and friend.

In honor of Nelson, Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 9 AM till time of the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will follow mass at Holy Rosary Cemetery.

To cherish Nelson's memories are his loving companion of 24 years, Janet Fazzio Bergeron; his cherished daughter, Chantel Theriot (Howard), and son, Corey Dupre (Briggette). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Trista Theriot, Brendon Theriot, Afton Dupre Massey, and step-grandson, Ryan Theriot, niece and nephews; Richard Daigle, Sandra Daigle and Mark Daigle (Peggy) and his best friend since childhood Rodney Bollinger (Shirley).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Velma Dupre, and his sister, Rita Daigle.

A proud veteran, Nelson served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Airman 2nd Class. He was an active member of the American Legion and the Usher's Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Additionally, he contributed his talents as a past member of the Holy Rosary Jubilee Choir and served as a Knight of Columbus with St. Gregory Barbarigo Council 6170 as a 3rd Degree Knight and St. August W. Vandebilt Assembly No. 2322 as a 4th Degree Knight.Nelson was passionate about his faith and was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. He took great joy in watching old westerns, listening to country music, and dancing. A natural conversationalist, he never met a stranger and held deep affection for his family. He was a proud avid fan of LSU and the Saints, often sharing the joy of the game with family.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to his doctors at Oschner's Medical Center in New Orleans, the staff at Heritage Manor and the staff at St. Catherine's Hospice for their love and care given to Nelson and the family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital and Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
