In Loving Memory of Nelson Green

Nelson Green, age 90, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Born on December 8, 1934, in Bearden, Arkansas, Nelson was the beloved son of Blont J. and Annie Mae Hutchens Green. A former resident of Fordyce, Arkansas, Nelson moved to Liberty as a young man and made it his home for the past 75 years. His life was one of quiet strength, enduring values, and deep devotion to family.

Nelson graduated from Hardin High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Army. After his service, he built a long and fulfilling career as a lab technician with Chevron, from which he retired with pride. Outside of work, Nelson found great joy in the simple pleasures of life-he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, a skilled woodworker, and a devoted football fan.

Nelson was a man of integrity, generosity, and steady warmth. He was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Willie Jean Harris and Janice Poole. He is survived by his loving sister, Sue Smart, and brother, George A. Green. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends, including Elizabeth Harris, Chuck Harris and wife Lesley, Joanne Ainsworth and husband Rusty, Randy Green, Keith Smart, and Annise Smart McCray.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Wednesday, July 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Allison Funeral Service Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty, where Nelson will be laid to rest with his beloved parents.

Nelson Green's life was a testament to hard work, quiet kindness, and unwavering loyalty. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
