Nelson K. Novak

Born on earth 10/27/1993 and into eternal peace 7/9/2025
Beloved son to Kim (Kobernik) Novak and Peter Lucas, and Neal and Maria Johanna Novak, loving brother to Nathan (Deanna) Novak, dear loving uncle, nephew, and cousin to many, friend to all he encountered. Nelson was a loving, caring and supportive Grandson to his Grandmas in their final years. He lived his life with a heart of gold.
Nelson graduated from Deerfield High School in 2012 and pursued his education at College of Lake County and Gemology Institute of America (GIA) where he received multiple Gemology Certifications.
After his near death accident in 2018, Nelson was determined to help recovering addicts by creating his non-profit sober living home, Terrapin Station Sober Living, in 2019 in Urbana, Illinois. He worked with and supported many men working toward their recovery, providing food, housing, and employment support to lead toward living independent lives. Last fall, Nelson chose to return his focus to his love of music and jewelry design where he ran successful internet businesses. From the time he was a young child, he always wanted to help the homeless and loved his music and gemstones. He took these passions into his adult life by providing support for those struggling to find a home. He also pursued his businesses in gemology and music design. Nelson loved The Grateful Dead, gathering and selling a plethora of Dead Head materials. He also loved spending time with family and attending music festivals with his many friends.
He will be terribly missed by all his loved ones.
Nelson's Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 20th from 3-7:00 PM, at Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home,
1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL 60035.
