CLIFTON PARK - Nelson D. Powers, 86, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Known as "Ned," he was born in Albany, January 1, 1939, a son of the late Frank and Ruth E. (Clark) Powers.
He attended Columbia High School and following his schooling, went to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
In his earlier years, Ned served as a volunteer firefighter. He was employed on the Conrail Railroad, and later CSX, retiring after many years.
Ned enjoyed hunting, motorcycling and enjoying good times with family and friends. During Ned's retirement, he and his wife, Celia, summered on Schroon Lake, and wintered in Sarasota, Fla.
He was predeceased by a son, Jody Powers; and a grandson, Mark Powers.
Ned is survived by his wife, Celia; his two sons, Lee (Samantha) and Randy Powers; his eight grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara (Powers) Stoddard.
Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a celebration of life immediately following, at 12:00 p.m., on Monday, June 9, 2025, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albany.
