Nester Celeste Rapheal Pugh

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Nester Celeste Rapheal Pugh, 92, who passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at her residence in Lafayette.
Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 9:00 am until the time of service.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Brother Ronald Lacon, of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lafayette, will officiate.
Nester was born May 2, 1930, in New Orleans, LA, and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She married the love of her life, Duvie Pugh, and moved to various locations due to his time in the United States Air Force. Later, they settled in Lafayette, LA, making it their home. Nester worked as a Salesperson at Sally's Beauty Supply in the Retail Industry until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, drawing, and doing upholstery; some would say she was best at "minding other people's business." Nester was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lafayette. Family meant everything to Nester, and she leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.
Nester is survived by one daughter, Pearl Pugh-Sitton, of Lafayette, LA; three sons, Duvie A. Pugh and his wife, Sou, of Kenner, LA, Kenneth A. Pugh and his wife, CC, of Stone Mountain, GA, and Alex R. Pugh, of Canyon Lake, TX; her son-in-law, Adrien Augustine, Sr., of Ocean Spring, MS; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duvie Leonard Pugh, of 64 years; her parents, Alec, Jr., and Pearl B. Thompson Rapheal and her daughter, Lennet M. Augustine.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Duvie A. Pugh, Kenneth A. Pugh, Alex R. Pugh, Trae' Sitton, Timothy Barnett, and Duvie L. Pugh.
Honorary Bearers will be Makhai Sitton, Richard Pugh, Elijah Barnett, and Naomi Sitton.
Nester left a special request to express her heartfelt gratitude, love, and appreciation to her daughter, Pearl for all she has done for her over the years and for the relationship they shared together.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice, in Lafayette and Dr. James Nwatibo, for the compassionate care given to Nester and her family.
