Nettie Teer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 10, 2024.
Nettie Sue Chavers Teer, age 94, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, with family nearby.
She was born in 1929 to parents John Matthew Chavers and Amy Carly Brewton Chavers in Morton, Mississippi. At an early age, the family moved to Pensacola, Florida where she spent most of her childhood and worked as a telephone operator during the war.
She met her husband, Louis Peter Teer Sr., at the Pensacola Naval Base. They were married in New York, had all three children in Amityville, New York, and then the family moved to Brookfield, Connecticut. They lived in Brookfield for many years.
Sue always put family first and spent many years as a Real Estate agent in Connecticut. She found it rewarding to find the perfect home for a family. She enjoyed traveling and her favorite trip was to Thailand. After losing her husband to cancer in 1982, she moved back to Florida where she enjoyed the Palm trees and beaches that she enjoyed in her childhood. At a later age, she moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to be close to her daughters.
Survivors include children, Susan Howarth, Candie Leunig and her husband Jack Leunig, and daughter-in-law Pallas Zeller Teer. She had three grandsons and a great-granddaughter, who she loved immensely and spent many holidays visiting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis P. Teer Sr., and son, Louis P. Teer Jr., her parents and all seven of her siblings.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to Save the Children's United States Programs Support Fund, 501 Kings Highway East, Suite 400, Fairfield, CT 06825.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.NelsenWilliamsburg.com.
