As a patient with IBM and diagnosed since 2019, I particularly remember how she advocated for our disease in this newspaper article in 2022 by talking about her daily life (https://shorturl.at/FIruC), both Neva and her husband adapted their lives to live with this disease. I try to do the same by volunteering at our patient organization (MSU- Myositis Support and Understanding).

I am Debra (Garland) LeClair. Chip Garland's sister. I got to know Neva so we'll after Chip's death. She played cards with Chip. She also knew Gloria Garlnd from the trailer park in Mesa, Arizona. She is loved and missed. Lee and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so grateful to have become friends with Neva and Lee and appreciate the time we spent together when you two were in Arizona. I miss the playing late night Euchre and Pegs and Joker games. Those are very fond memories that I will cherish forever.

It is with deep sadness that we say good-bye to our warrior sister, Neva. We will miss her smiling face, sweet comments, and loving advice in our IBM group. We've never met, but her love and compassion always came through from her messages. My sincerest sympathy to Lee, her children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Neva was a woman of tremendous courage and love.

Neva was an important member of our group, Women with Inclusion Body Myositis. It is a group that none of us want to be in, but we feel like it is a family from all over the world, consisting of people who understand our difficulties. I never had the opportunity to meet Neva as I live in Australia, but I felt supported as a friend by her and her posts were kind and helpful. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to you, Lee. Thank you for your care.

Neva was an inspiration to many that knew her and loved her as she fought a courageous fight against the horrible disease, Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM disease). She handled the many difficult challenges that came with this illness head on, always looking for new ways to deal with diminished physical strength and ability. She reached out to others to share her experiences and advice, and helped many others adapt to life with IBM. She was lucky to have a kind and loving caregiver in her husband Lee. I will really miss our frequent telephone chats, and I´m so glad I was able to call Neva my friend.
