Newell “Spike” Anderson Jr. left this earth on June 17, 2025.

He was the strongest man I’ve ever known, and he fought hard until the very end. He lived a thousand lives and carried a thousand stories, always ready to share an adventure from his wild and exciting past. He always had a crazy story to tell. He was loved by everyone he came across. He had more lifelong friends than anyone I’ve ever met, and his humor, wit, and kind spirit made people feel like they’d known him forever.

He loved making the most ridiculous jokes, always trying to get everyone around him to laugh. He was so goofy, constantly saying or doing the most outrageous things just to get a reaction. His whole face would light up every time he made someone crack up, like making people laugh was the best part of his day.

He loved his family more than anything and would have sacrificed everything for us.

He went above and beyond in his love and in his protection. He was the kind of man who would sit in the parking lot for hours just to make sure you were safe when you walked out, or jump out of bed at 3am without question if you called. He checked in every single day, sometimes multiple times a day, just to see what your plans were for the day or to just say hi. His love was selfless, steady, and loud in all the best ways. He always made you feel seen.

He shared his love for music constantly, always eager to play a song or put on a full-blown concert on YouTube or Facebook. He taught, he guided, and he supported in ways that changed people. He loved sharing his passion for sports and teaching his grandkids anything and everything he could. He lit up watching them grow and was endlessly proud of all they did. He never missed a moment, basketball practices, soccer games, swimming lessons, dance recitals. He showed up for it all with the biggest smile on his face.

When you walked into his house and saw the walls covered in family photos, drawings from his grandkids, and my artwork in every room, you could feel how deeply he lived for his family. Every inch of that space held proof of how much we all meant to him.

It brings me comfort to know that his humor and spirit will still have such a strong presence in our lives through his son-in-law. Nolan, because in so many ways, they are one and the same. Their bond was something so special and something I’ll always cherish. The hours they spent just talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company are memories I will forever be grateful for.

He was endlessly devoted to my mom, his wife and soulmate, Blanca, pouring every moment into loving her and making her happy for 38 years. Their bond was deep, a love that was both fierce and tender. They were inseparable until the very end. The kind of love they shared doesn’t fade, it lives on in every memory, every moment they built together, and in all of us who witnessed it.

He was truly a one-of-a-kind father.

I feel so blessed to have experienced that kind of love, unwavering, protective, and full of heart. I carry it with me now and always, and I know he’s still watching over me, still supporting me, still showing up for me, still loving me from beyond the veil.

Losing him has left a hole that nothing can ever truly fill.

He will be missed more than words can say.

But the love he gave all of us will stay forever.

Always.

I love you.

Your little princess.

Veronica
