Entered into rest on October 16, 2025 at the age of 93.
Verla was the loving wife of Jim Hellmann for 72 years, cherished mother of Deb (spouse - Den) Spitzer, Karen (Dave) Harting, Dot Hellmann and James (Lisa) Hellmann Jr., Beloved Grandma to Jon (Jessie) Harting, Kate (Austin) Adams, Carrie Harting, Nicole Hellmann, Nathan Hellmann, Josh Hackman, Samantha (Timothy) Watkins and James (Chyna) Hellmann III. Loving Great-Grandmother to Tristan Adams, Cameron Adams, Tyler Dill, Chase Dill, Aidyn Hellmann, River Hellmann, Addison Evans, Mason Hellmann, Rubylee Hellmann, Milliana Hellmann, Nevaeh Watkins, Ben Watkins, Violet Watkins, Colton Harting and Brooks Harting.
Preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Myrtle Holland, and her brother Carl (Lucille) Holland.
Verla was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother who loved nothing more than spending time with the people she loved. Her family always came first. To her children, she was both a soft place to land and a steady guide. She was a kind and gentle soul who loved to laugh and to make people laugh. Verla had a humor that snuck up on you - warm, smart, and always perfectly timed. She had a way of turning even the hardest days into something lighter.
She was the kind of person that didn't ask for recognition. It was simply who she was - in the way she spoke, showed up, and shared her quiet strength with everyone around her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. St. Charles, 63304
Service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 9:00am at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center.
