IN LOVING MEMORY OF NGUYEN THANH THUY April 12, 1933 – June 8, 2025
With profound sorrow and boundless love, we announce the passing of Mrs. Cong Do, who left this world peacefully on June 8, 2025, at the age of 92. Born as Nguyen Thanh Thuy on April 12, 1933, in Saigon, Vietnam, she was the heart and soul of our family. Mrs. Do was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was a testament to strength, sacrifice, and love.
After the fall of Saigon in April 1975, Mrs. Do and her husband, Do Dang Cong, made the courageous decision to flee Vietnam with their four young children. They were determined to find a better future in the United States. Leaving behind everything familiar, they started anew with nothing but their determination, values, and unbreakable commitment to family.
Misfortune struck thirteen years later when her beloved husband passed away in 1988. At a moment when many would have faltered, Mrs. Do stood tall. She became the pillar of our family, guiding her high school-aged children through grief and into adulthood with grace, quiet tenacity, and a fierce devotion to their well-being. She worked tirelessly, without complaint, to ensure that her children had every opportunity to thrive.
To those who knew her, Mrs. Do was a gentle force-always kind, always dignified, but never anything less than formidable in her resilience. She embodied the values of generosity, humility, and perseverance. Her legacy is not only the family she raised, but the courage she showed and the love she gave in every season of her life.
Mrs. Do has now reunited with her beloved husband, whose memory remained ever-present in her heart. Together, they built a life marked by extraordinary selflessness and enduring love.
She is survived by her son, Khoa D. Do; her daughters, Hang Do Pham, Tammie Do, and Nina Do Knezevich; eight treasured grandchildren; and two adored great-grandchildren. She lives on in each of them, in their vitality, their kindness, and the love they share.
We will honor her life and memory on Sunday, June 15, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview, Illinois 60025. A burial service will follow on Tuesday, June 17, at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie, Illinois 60076.
She will be forever missed and always remembered.
