Nicholas Anthony DiMarco, age 70, on January 15, 2024, of Havertown, PA.
Graduated from Villanova University Class of 1974. Fond member of the Italian American Club.
Nicholas was a talented athlete who loved playing sports like football and baseball growing up. Upon graduation, Nick had a successful career employed by NAVFAC (Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command) for over 40 years as skilled Mechanical Engineer where he got to travel the world. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, dancing, golfing, and going to the gym. He also had an interest in cars and cooking.
Despite spending much time in and out of the hospital battling Hairy Cell Lekemia, he never lost his sense of humor, strength, or positive attitude. He had a great ability to make others smile. He was the first patient to have success on a clinical trial for his type of cancer and has changed the future for others.
Predeceased by his parents Dolores (nee Delmonico) and Nicholas A. Sr.
Survived by his daughter Caitlin DiMarco and her mother Mary Totino and his brother Bruce DiMarco.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, Morning, January 26th,; 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. ALL IN CHURCH at St. Dorothy's Church 4910 Township Line Rd., Drexel Hill, PA 19026.Interment Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Good memories reading Joe Cotton's and Bill Sorg's remarks as they both touch on memories I had as well...
When I arrived for my first day of work at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in July 1977, I "was assigned a seat next to Nick (aka Captain Torque)." Nick had a way of making work more interesting.
I was "on a trip to Hawaii and I saw him on the beach" in the early 1980s. We were at the North Shore, body surfing and we got tossed around quite a bit in the large waves breaking in that day. We were exhausted and ready for chow later that evening.
Nick and I played many rounds of golf together. He was better at softball!!

I worked with Nick in the shipyard and a Naval Surface Warfare Center. Nick was a great guy. I remember playing softball with him and how strong he was. Not only could he hit the ball far, he broke some of my bats. Another memory is when I was on a trip to Hawaii and I saw him on the beach. We hung out and had a good time. He will be missed.

Nick was my classmate and teammate in grade school and high school. I was overjoyed to spend time with him at our O´Hara reunion a little more than a year ago where our collective grade school bond shined brightest. Nick´s dad was a gem of a guy who attended most football practices then shuttled a carload of us home. He confided in me once by saying he was thinking of taking Nick´s weights away because Nick was getting too strong. I thought to myself, please don´t Mr. DiMarco! He´s on OUR SIDE. Upon hearing of Nick´s passing I instantly recalled a moment we shared as sophomores with no one else around. We both were sitting at a picnic table brainstorming under duress. How, how, how, can we escape from football camp. We never figured that out until one year later where we were successful in doing so, if only for a few hours. That´s another story. For me, Nick´s greatest trait was his ability to share a laugh, to share a story, to share a moment with you. I now know from the part of his life I had the least knowledge of, how strong he truly was.
Mr. DiMarco, taking those weights away would have never worked.

In August 1978 I started at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and was assigned a seat next to Nick (aka Captain Torque). Forty-five years later he is still the "Torqster" to all his friends. As unique a character as they come and a friend for all those years. I know he battled to the end. Rest in Peace Nick.

Nicky and I were buds with about another 1/2 dozen of guys back in our late teens. He was one of the nicest, happy go lucky people you could ever hang out with. What stands out to me after over 50 years was his dedication to being in shape. I would say that he may have been one of the strongest, toughest guy that I have ever known. We reconnected only about a few years ago and our conversations were always positive even though he was in the battle of a lifetime. He was also an ever-loving Dad to his dearest daughter Caitlin.
