I first met Nick at the downtown YMCA in 1979. Since that time, Nick and I ran countless miles together on roads and trails. His love for running was unmatched. He introduced me to the Louisville running culture and community and to many great events and running challenges. Nick was a kind and generous person. He was fun to be around. He never met a stranger. I will miss him. To Marina and family, please accept my deepest condolences.

Together, Nick and I conquered many challenges in our quest to complete a marathon in each state. A steadfast companion, we ran through the most diverse of conditions: heat, cold, rain, snow, rocks, sand, valleys and mountains. We made it to the finish line, not always smiling but always happy.
Rest in peace my dear friend. You will be missed.
