Nicholas Kailing Ludwick, 24, left us far too soon on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. He was born on June 29, 2000, to Helen Bai Ludwick and Kenneth Lee Ludwick, and from the start, he brought light and laughter to everyone around him.
Nick was a kind soul with a quick wit and a heart full of love. He was the kind of person who could make anyone feel welcome, and he had a special gift for lifting others up-whether through a joke, a listening ear, or just his presence. He was a loving son, a devoted brother, and a loyal friend to many.
He had a tight-knit group of friends who meant the world to him, and he to them. He was passionate about kindness, always showing up for the people in his life. He also loved working out, eating healthy, playing video games, and soccer. Nick was a die-hard fan of Lou City and his beloved Chelsea F.C.-his dream was to one day watch a match at Stamford Bridge.
Nick also had a soft spot for animals, especially the family dog, Luna.
He is survived by his parents, Helen and Kenneth; his sister, Christina Sarah Ludwick; his maternal grandparents, Andy and Louise Bai; and his paternal grandmother, Rebecca. He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles: Richelle Kipp, Shannon Ludwick, Jennifer Wilhelm, Daphne Bai, Christina Ching (Peter), Nancy Bai (Hin), Jared Arledge (Robin), and Ben Arledge (Emily); and his cousins: Taylor, Maiya, Journey, Dawson, Lily, Isabelle, Colton, Caden, Ryan, Alex, Katelyn, Christian, and Britney.
Nick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Don Ludwick (Fran), and his cousin, Adam Bement.
A celebration of Nick's life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home in St. Matthews, with Young Life Director Jeremy Brown leading the service. Visitation will be on Friday, April 25, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.
In honor of Nick's love for soccer and community, memorial donations can be made to the Lou City and Racing Foundation.

I joined OCSC in high school and had a pretty forgettable career. I remember meeting Nick at my first training session and I was so nervous. I got the sense he recognized that, and he checked in on me numerous times that day every training session afterwards. I will always remember Nick for how he cared for the odd man out.

My favorite memory with Nick was when he, Dylan Smith and Keyon Ghayoumi came over to my house (very likely to watch a soccer game). I remember playing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody on my TV. I started singing it and Nick joined me. We ended up singing the whole song together. I will always cherish that memory. I´m unsure if this photo of the four of us is from that same day, but I´m sure it was taken around that time.

I only had the chance to meet Nick a few times. He was always polite, attentive, and respectful. Everyone who worked with him spoke incredibly highly of him. I cherish this photo we took of him just a few weeks ago. We will carry Nick's spirit with us always. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family during this unimaginable time.
