Barbara Ramser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - St. Matthews on Aug. 5, 2025.
Barbara Ann Ellington Ramser 57 passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, after a courageous six-year battle with ALS. Barbara was born on May 19, 1968, and grew up in Louisville. She was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Eastern Kentucky University and spent over a decade teaching the fifth grade at St. Agnes. Barbara was a member of St. Albert the Great and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at EKU.

Barbara was devoted to raising her three children and spent countless hours supporting their academic and athletic endeavors. She was a friend to everyone. She graciously opened her home to family and friends, as well as her children's friends. There always seemed to be a full house on the weekends and plenty to eat in the morning.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Carmel Riney Ellington and her father -in-law, Emmett Ramser Sr. She is survived by husband of 32 years, Emmett Charles Ramser, Jr, who tirelessly dedicated himself to her care the past three years; her three children, Daniel (Megan), Matthew, and Andrew; her grandchild, Dawson; her brothers, Frank Ellington (Kathy), John Ellington (Beverly), and her sister Maureen Lintner (Jon). She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Pat Ramser, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank and embrace her circle of friends, both in Louisville and their home away from home, Port Canaveral, Florida, for their unwavering dedication and assistance during her illness. Each visit brought a smile to Barbara's face.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. Albert the Great, 1395 Girard Drive, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd "In St. Matthews" on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Academy or St. Albert the Great

Emmett and family,

My sympathies to you on the passing of Barbara. It has been many years since I have seen Barbara but have many fond memories. May God comfort you in your sorrow and may Barbara rest in eternal peace.

Barb will be greatly missed. Attached is a picture of Barbara, Molly, myself and Kenny Logsdon, in the winter of 1985 at Dickens on Main Street, downtown.

We were cold, of course, but we had an amazing time, mainly because of great friends like Barb.

She warmed the hearts of so many with her sense of humor, her quirkiness, her love of life and the ability to have anyone in her vicinity, want to be near her.

Barb´s strength in the past several years is unparalleled. Ive not seen Barb in many years, but I know she´s the same amazing woman that I knew 40 years ago. Prayers, love and condolences to the family. Barb will never be forgotten.
Love, Jeff Goodwin.
