Nicholas L. Mevoli

Mevoli, Nicholas L. "George" 86, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at The Springs at Boca Ciega Bay in South Pasedena, FL. Born in Camden, NJ, he came here in 1971 from Oaklyn, N. J. He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran. He and his wife purchased George's Meat Market on Haines Road in 1972 and operated it until his retirement, at which time his son Larry took over the day-to-day responsibilities of the meat market. He was Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Natalie ("Dolly"), sons Larry and Paul, a sister Elizabeth Abate, Brooklawn, NJ, many cousins including Joe and Julie DiOrio of St. Petersburg, FL, "adopted son" Craig Hill of Treasure Island, FL, many loving nieces and nephews in the N.J. area, 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. There will be a visitation from 6 - 8PM, on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Anderson-McQueen (Tyrone) 7820 - 38th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church 7851-54th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to The Hospice Foundation of the Florida Suncoast.
