Nicholas Shea Netherton

Nicholas Shea Netherton was born on June 11, 1984, and passed from this life on September 8, 2025.

Nicholas was a highly creative and artistic soul. An avid outdoorsman and extreme sports enthusiast, he didn't just watch from the sidelines, he lived it. He was passionate about snowboarding, always seeking out the most challenging slopes. He skateboarded with skill, teaching himself countless tricks and maneuvers, and played soccer with energy and enthusiasm. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling to Hinton to rappel down the canyon walls at Red Rock Park. When summer rolled around, he turned to wakeboarding, embracing every adventure with courage and excitement.

He had a brilliant mind and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Nicholas could often be found at his computer, diving deep into subjects that sparked his curiosity, always with music in the background, often a mix of alternative rock and classic '70s tunes. He graduated from John Marshall High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy, where his determination and work ethic quickly earned him the highest rank on his ship, which he achieved at the youngest age of anyone at the time.

After his military service, Nicholas followed another passion: plants and trees. He studied botany at OSU Tech and went on to build a 15-year career as an arborist, caring for and trimming trees with the same dedication and precision he applied to every aspect of his life.

Nicholas was known for his sharp intellect-"wicked smart, almost to a fault." His mind was always active, problem-solving, imagining new possibilities, and crafting creative solutions. But behind that intensity was a playful, lighthearted side that those closest to him knew and loved.

He is survived by his parents, Cathy Thomas and Jeff Netherton; brothers Ryan Thomas, Jacob Netherton, and Ben Netherton; daughters Tristan and Peyton Netherton; grandfather Bob Stout and grandmother Donna Bales as well as grandfather Nicholas Netherton; uncle Gary Stout; aunt Bobbi Aldridge; aunt Connie and her husband Chuck Thompson; uncle Dennis and his wife Daisy Higgins; along with many loving cousins, friends, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Joe Bales, Cathie Netherton (late wife to Jeff), and Stephanie Netherton (late wife to Nicholas).
