Nicholas S. Palmucci, 82, of Lakewood, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Born and raised in Newark, he resided in Edison and East Brunswick before moving to Lakewood 20 years ago.

He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

Nicholas was an Operations Manager for Linden Motor Freight for 20 years, retiring in 2003.

He was an avid fisherman and loved crabbing and making his famous crab gravy. He enjoyed spending time with his family making many homemade dishes for everyone to share. He loved his three grandchildren, and you could find him in the kitchen teaching them to make pizza and pasta. He also really enjoyed Atlantic City, the beach and playing the lottery. Behind a gruff exterior, "Papa Mooch" was a caring family man who was a loving husband, father, grandfather and devoted caregiver.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Grace Palmucci (d.1994) and four siblings, Joseph, Rosemary, Paul and Lillian.

Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Judith Palmucci; children, Nicholas Palmucci and his wife Michele of Edison, Jason Palmucci of Jersey City, Edward Gray and his wife Susan of Metuchen, and Jennifer Gray of Levittown, PA; grandchildren, Katie, Josie, and Charlie, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 10am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen, followed by the interment in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.

Visitation is Monday from 3-7pm.
