TROY Nicholas A. Piterniak III, 63, entered into eternal rest Monday, May 20, 2024 at his residence.
Born in Troy, he was the son of Rosanne M. Bylo Piterniak of Albany and the late Nicholas A. Piterniak, Jr.
Nick grew up in Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School in 1979. He had been employed at Bendix in Green Island and then worked for over 20 years with the Cohoes Housing Authority until retiring.
He was an avid bowler and belonged to a league at Hilltop Bowl in Speigletown for many years. He also enjoyed hunting and watching his two favorite teams, the NY Giants and NY Yankees.
Nick or "Uncle Nick" as he was referred to by many, was always the life of the party. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, quick wit and unfailing ability to make those around him smile.
In addition to his father, Nick was predeceased by his beloved son, Brandon A. Piterniak. He is survived by his loving siblings, Robin M. (the late Stephen) DeLorenzo and William T. (JoAnne) Piterniak all of Cohoes, Laurie A. (the late Donald) LaDue of Schenectady and Kelly J. (Ernest) Roberts of Cohoes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 4-6 p.m.
In honor of Nick's love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
