Nicholas H. Wetherington

Nicholas Hyde Wetherington of Evart, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the age of 82. Nick devoted his life to service, prioritizing his faith, family and country. As a young man, he volunteered for the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. After returning from active duty, he continued his service with the U.S. Naval Reserves and the Army National Guard, retiring with 26 years of service.
Following his completion of seminary, he first served in Christian school administration, then pastorate and he was always involved in youth programs and mission boards. His desire was that all would come to know the Lord as their personal Savior. Nick's care and kindness towards all will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
In his final years, Nick received compassionate care from Medilodge of Clare and MyMichigan. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to these caregivers for their exceptional kindness and support.
Nicholas is survived by his beloved second wife, Lois Kay; sister Tina; his children Phillip (Chon); Eric (Leigh) and Nicole; Kay's children Amanda (Daniel), Benjamin (Dorothy); Andrew (Julianne), Ronald (Joni), Renee (Mike), Dennis (Connie); as well as 16 grand children, 10 great-grand children and extended family's and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Wilma; and his first wife, Margaret (d. 2007).
Visitation will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, 636 N Oak St., Evart, MI 49631, on Thursday October 30, 2–4 and 6–8. Memorial service will be Saturday, November 1 at 1pm with visitation at 12pm. Interment will be held at Fort Custer Augusta MI. In remembrance to Nick's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Christ for the Philippines (radio ministry) or Calvary Baptist AWANA program.
